Formerly the daily excite, various random musical doings of mine will reside here. If you have a request or an idea you'd like to hear me try out I'd love to hear it. Most of the stuff here will be recorded using midi, so if anyone wants to see the original file to have a rough transcription or for whatever other use, I'd be happy to provide. Enjoy!

games as art
In continuing with the game theme, I have a question for the gamers among my viewers. What games do you point to when arguing that games are art. I would start with some of these, namely imortall, coma, and loondon. Bioshock and its sequel probably deserve a mention as well. But enough of my games. What say you?

To be honest I haven't really thought about this. There are some gamers who don't consider games art. Not as a whole anyway. No one can truly define "art". Out of all the arguments I've had, I really haven't had one over if games are art, and I can't actually think of one. So, I guess for once I lost an argument. Before it even began. There are some games I would call "A work of art" sure, but that doesn't make them art.
ReplyDeleteGames are absolutely art. The graphic design, the music, the story, it's all art.
ReplyDeleteAnyone who thinks different doesn't understand what the word "art" means.
My favorite game is Gunbound. Of course the graphic is like Mario but you need to learn a lot to be a pro in this game, formulas, strategies ... This game is one of the best things of my childhodd.
ReplyDeleteThere is a game called LSD: Dream Emulator. A guy took a dream journal for a year and then made a PC game based on that journal. Honestly i wouldnt call it a game, more like an interactive piece of art. It will blow your mind
ReplyDeleteI consider a few games as art. Not like pictures or music, but art in an modern and visual way.
